QA Inspector – 2nd Shift*

Specialty plastic manufacturer is searching for a QA Inspector for their central New Jersey area facility. The primary focus of this individual will be the physical measurement of manufactured parts and the maintenance of the calibration system as well as testing, measuring, and monitoring of the manufacturing process and products manufactured to assure conformance with specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect critical dimensions and visual attributes against blueprint specifications on molded and assembled parts and prepare inspection reports including First Article Inspection Reports
  • Collect and enter data for SPC capability studies
  • Create / Maintain / Perform calibration requirements.
  • Develop repeatable measurements for functional tests (destructive and non-destructive testing) and perform Gage repeatability & reliability studies
  • Develop procedures for measuring, testing, and monitoring
  • Interface with Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors regarding inspection results and follow up on disparity between samples and specifications
  • Maintain documented records. File specifications/ blue prints as needed
  • Continually review procedures and methods in the area of responsibility and identify opportunities for improvement. Develop specific ideas for improvement and follow through on implementation

* 2nd Shift = 4pm to 12am

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in Quality Inspection / basic metrology / mechanical inspection (physical measurement techniques), reading blueprints, knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Competency in use of measuring equipment, comparators, micrometers, calipers
  • Experience with Ram optical inspection equipment, such as a SmartScope or CMM a Plus
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency essential; experience in writing inspection programs for Smart Scope a plus
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and deadline orientated, even under stress
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong ability to organize work with a sense of urgency
  • Meticulous and attentive to details
  • Strong skills in team work and communication
  • High School diploma
  • Knowledge of SPC, ISO, cGMP’s preferred
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
